MEMORIAL LAWNS CEMETERY AND CHAPEL OF REMEMBRANCE MAUSOLEUM

Memorial Lawns Cemetery was founded in 1961. Over forty acres are available for cemetery purposes. The Garden of Gethsemane, Garden of Memory, Garden of Prayer and Garden of St. Bernard were part of the original development. The planning concept was one of flat or grass level markers. These cemeteries became popular because maintenance of the cemetery was easier.

With the invention of the string trimmer maintenance of cemeteries with upright monuments became much more efficient. There also is increased interest in upright memorials from the public. In response to that we are opening the Garden of Peace for upright memorials. Half of the Garden of St. Bernard also will be for upright memorials.

With the opening of the Chapel of Remembrance Mausoleum Memorial Lawns Cemetery became the only cemetery in Wabash County with a Community Mausoleum. It is a community mausoleum because many families can participate in it and that brings the cost of mausoleum entombment within the reach of most families. The Chapel of Remembrance provides a temperature controlled environment for year round visitation. It is a tranquil place for contemplation and meditation.

The Mausoleum is construction of poured-in-place concrete and faced with fine granite. Each crypt is ventilated, clean and dry. A Columbarium for interment of cremains is also a part of the Chapel of Remembrance Mausoleum.

If you would like information on earth burial, grass level memorials, upright memorials, mausoleum entombment, cremains interment or prearranged funerals, please use the "request for information form" on this site. You may come to the cemetery office any weekday from 9-12 and 1-5. The Cemetery is on SR 13 South of US Highway 24, about half a mile.
